Say what? I didn’t know what these words meant until about a year ago, when I found they are BODY STYLES. We are all used to hearing about pear, apple, hourglass, etc shapes; but what are these? Allow me to explain (and by that I mean quote parts of this article, and allow you to click the link and read it in full at your leisure!).
FOR STARTERS, THIS HAS TO DO WITH HOW TO WORK OUT MOST EFFECTIVELY
You may have read the Instagram posts I randomly do about making exercise a priority. Even if it’s a 30 minute walk each day. And also how lack of exercise will start to take it’s toll on your body with each passing decade, so DON’T WAIT TIL TOMORROW, to get, and stay, fit.
If you are trying diets and workout routines; but not seeing the results you want, it may also have to do with what Body Style you are. Figure that out, and you will unlock the mystery of how to do what’s best for YOU, not what you see others doing. Another reason why we just cannot compare ourselves to others, there’s no way we are all working with the same parts and pieces!
“Long and Lean with difficulty building muscle.” This means you can push weights with the best of them and you may not see gains like the people you follow on social media. Don’t discourage, there is a specific path you can follow to help!
“Big, high Body Fat, often pear shaped, with a high tendency to store body fat.” This means you can push weights with the best of them; but you may struggle to get rid of that tummy, or just shift the weight around.
“Muscular and well built, with a high metabolism and responsive muscle cells.” This means you can push those weights and see the gains in ALL THE PLACES! All it takes is getting to the gym consistently and you can see the fruits of your labor.
SOMEWHERE IN THE MIDDLE
Of course, there is never a definite line with categories like this. You could be somewhere in the middle, just like you can be Partially Petite! If you aren’t sure, might be interesting to go to your local gym or fitness center, and have an experienced fitness professional help you figure it out. Then EVERY moment you use to work out, stay fit, hit a goal, find a routine that works for you and your body style, will be effective. And isn’t THAT the secret sauce we all want???

I just feel this is so important, because finding the LIFESTYLE that works the best for you and your body type, is better than any fad diet that “Becky” has been on and has a rockin’ bod; but had to give up carbs. Not all diets are right for YOUR body type and metabolism, so what if, learning a bit more about how you are made, allows you to create the very best you? Ahhh, what’s the word I’m looking for….oh!
