I have to say, lately, my belt has been a gamechanger for my outfits! Dresses that need an update are the perfect place to start using this accessory to switch up your style. I encourage you to give it a try too.
DON’T SETTLE
Not being harsh; but what I’m saying is don’t settle for the belt that your dress may have come with. Especially if it is more of a sash that is the same color as the dress itself. This is were you can put on a belt that really shows your personality! Glitter? Leather? Patent? Color? Thin? Wide? You get to add to your look however you want to!
LOOK A LITTLE MORE TAILORED
I am certain when you can belt a dress like I have in the examples below, it looks a little more tailored. Wear it loose and flowy for a more casual event when you want, cinch it in for a more hourglass shape for other events! Often you can have two COMPLETELY different looks! Now that’s being savvy with your style dollars, saving you time to get ready AND taking full advantage of your wardrobes versatility! You go girl….
EXAMPLES:
My silk All Saints dress from 6 years ago…..loose and flowy, then belted to look more like a cocktail dress!
My plaid Zara dress that was also photographed by @bmariephoto (Brooke Holmes, also the gal that was in my Brooke Styling posts!). Wear it casual like below, and for summer add a cute hat and gladiator sandals with a denim jacket and a seasonal tote or crossbody. OR, cinch it, and add heels for a dressier event!
Other examples of adding a belt to other outfits are HERE, HERE and HERE!
Consider this post your action item, to go back to your closet, see if you’ve got a belt that can switch up the look of your dresses, and you might find you’ll be ready for summer style before you know it!
