So…full disclosure I’m not a super fan of the color blush. Maybe I’ve just seen so many logos and color palettes in the blogging word embrace this color fully; but when I came across this H&M dress last Fall, I bought it not knowing if I’d ever wear it. For some crazy reason, I envisioned myself strolling the streets of Paris, with my skirt swinging and my off the shoulder style screaming, “Bonjour France!”
WHY I LOVE IT
When I saw this dress on the hanger, I thought it had that “dreamy” potential with the flowy skirt. You know I love a dress that makes me feel like I’m floating. When I tried it on, I kind of loved it right away. EVEN THOUGH it has a built in wasitline at a natural waistline (which if you follow me know I avoid almost always…I’m a low waisted, or no waist, kind of girl); but when I added my skinny metallic belt I could ignore the elastic and feel more polished and feminine. DON’T BE AFRAID TO TRY SOMETHING ON! You just never know!
PS, I will admit I’m not crazy about my shoes here…I wish I had a pair of less bulky heels to add to the airy feel of the dress.
UNEXPECTED WINNER
This blush dress makes me feel dressed up; but not over the top. The only thing that would make it better is it if were a V-neck with flutter cap sleeves instead of off the shoulder. If I never had to wear a strapless bra again I’d be super happy; but it’s a must with this piece! At least it is for me to be in my comfort zone….but if that’s how you roll, you do you girl! Just no bra straps…mkay!
THE LONG AND SHORT OF IT
While I can definitely wear a skirt or dress above the knee and it will look proportional to my body shape, I didn’t mind that this one went just below the knee. Living in Dubai, I notice hemlines are more modest, and frankly, that’s super cool with me. There have been more than a few occasions back home when I saw day dresses that looked more like nightclub length, I’d be worried about that the WHOLE time I had it on. But not with this one!
DON’T LAUGH, IT HAPPENED!
Well, not exactly; BUT, I did go to a delicious and gorgeous French Restaurant for a Going Away Brunch for my friend Laurie, so it worked out really well!! The place was called Bleu Blanc and friends, it was dreamy. Great company, fun atmosphere and food was so delicious. And, just for you, I went “Full Insta” on my pics! Enjoy!
