If you’ve been with me for a while, you know that navy is my go to color. Pair it with white to be a major contrast, like Zara did here with this really cute button up, and it’s hard to say no.
WHAT CAUGHT MY EYE FIRST
I was looking for a top that I could take home to Canada with me, that would be great to wear in the evenings. Light material; but covered my arms. Loose; but not exactly “flowy”, it had a boxy feel that I could work with.
Getting a closer look at this top, it’s very much like a linen, so perfect for transition weather; but the style doesn’t scream summer like I find most linen does. So yep, it came home with me.
THE DETAILS I LOVE
I love me some details! Hopefully when I share what stands out to me in a piece of clothing or an outfit, it helps you think about that kind of thing when you shop for yours! SO, for this top, I really loved the braided detail down the arm, and also that I could change it to a 3/4 length sleeve with the crazy cute D ring buckle. It adds texture and layering by just being there, and also lets you wear your favorite arm party of bangles, bracelets or watch!
ANYTHING ELSE?
Yep! The V-neck is really flattering. Just deep enough to show off any necklaces I may have on; but also modest enough to not show any cleavage. I still feel super feminine in this top, despite it’s box”ish” cut. I love the navy buttons down the front instead of going with a white, just another punch of color and interest to the top. Lastly, I love that the hem is cut higher on the sides, so when worn untucked it’s not just straight across. It being higher on the sides, shows off a little more leg length, adding height.
ONE MORE THING
This top is not exactly wrinkle resistant. This kind of fabric MUST be pressed / ironed before wearing and it will wrinkle while you work (HA! Kind of like whistle; but not). Linen is just known for that. I wore this to the mall to connect with a new friend, have coffee, breakfast and just spend 4 hours getting to know each other. She took these pics for me after we were done, so it’s not terrible, I just hate how you can put effort into a look, then realize when you stand up you have 8 lines across your waist because of how you were sitting / standing / whatever-ing through the day.
EASY PAIRING
I paired this top with my new TJ Maxx Hudson jeans (so dark they are practically navy too!) I got over the summer . Add in the SUPER cute, comfortable and PERFECT HEIGHT Vince Camutto heels. I’m not going to lie. It was just a simple navy & white combo, yet I was feeling fabulous in it! You’ve GOT to have one of those outfits in your wardrobe. And don’t overthink when to wear it! You do you!
For my bag, I had just got this totally nude / neutral one. (Black would have been ok; but I sure do love a neutral. It would have also been super cute to add my faux snakeskin crossbody. Neutral pattern and texture there to!) I love the style and the versatility where I can use it as a handbag or go crossbody (handsfree is the best!). The shape of it is different from anything I’ve had in a really long time, so it adds another layer of texture with it being faux leather, and the gold hardware.
THOSE WHITE HEELS
Ok, I’ve been looking for white heels for at least 2 years. You know how I talk about doing the closet clean out or making a Pinterest Board so you can create a list for intentional shopping? I really do that! Sometimes I see ones I love but don’t have the cash (dang budgets!) And other times I see them, try them; but they just aren’t quite right. When I slid into these babies, and realized the heel was only 3 1/2″, not the typical 4 that is in my closet (and, umm, starting to feel a bit high after a night out….wahhhh! I’m going to have to pay attention to heel height when adding to the shoe collection. PERFECT example of my Method to Style evolving. Heel height, skirt length, how fitted something is, all of that changes as we discover our Method to Style throughout life.
There’s all the deets friends! Hope my breaking down this look, offers a few tid bits to stay in the back or your mind when you are shopping for you!
