You know, like how Elvis sang about blue suede shoes; but I turned it into Red Suede Shoes! I think everyone needs a pair of shoes that, the moment they put them on, feel just a little bit more confident. That’s these red suede shoes for me. I hope you have a pair of statement shoes in your closet to put on for either a special occasion, OR, just when the mood strikes!
MY RED SUEDE SHOES MAKE A STATEMENT
If you’ve been with me for a while you know I love a great statement shoe. It’s an awesome way to add your creative side, your unique personality to your outfit, especially if you are just starting to experiment with your Method to Style. You can commit to a fab shoe; but not feel like it’s a big change! And it’s a great way to put your best foot forward, literally. I LOVE to see a bold colorful statement shoe paired with a patterned top. For example, a bold patterned top, jeans or solid colored bottoms, then a fun shoe. Kind of like how I helped my friend Liz with her Wardrobe Review & Refresh, and we put this together:
Liz’s outfit is polished, flattering, has great detail and bold pops of color in very manageable and flattering ways. Her coral peep toe, casual heels are not super high; but are still slightly elevated compared to say a flip flop or leather sandal. If you are looking for ways to incorporate new details to your looks, this is a GREAT way to start!
MY RED SUEDE SHOES ARE FOR EVERYDAY STYLE, AND YOURS SHOULD BE TOO
So often we are stuck in the mindset that “dressing up” is just for special occasions. Now, if wearing heels is just super uncomfortable for your everyday errands or workday, then by all means apply these rules to flats, kitten heels or wedges. Either way, I want to encourage you to dust off those super cool shoes you have in your closet, and give them a chance to have you look at yourself in the mirror and say, “Let’s do this!” Whether you are in jeans, trousers, skirt or dress, let yourself add the statement shoe!
BONUS TIP!
I just have to share this, as an added tip while you are thinking of new outfit combinations to wear your statement shoes with. In this outfit, I’m actually wearing a sweater dress, that has a really flowy silk layer added in at the bottom, as a top! I’ve taken the front hem of the sweater portion, did a front tuck with it so the silk layer was still hanging out, and boom! It gives the dress a whole different purpose and shape. Now I can wear it more often! Not only that, when you front tuck, it shows a waistline, which in turn shows more leg length, making you look taller!
The dress has a halter top with I really like, because it shows off my shoulders, which I think is flattering for me, so I feel really confident in this style. I want to encourage you to consider the same things when you putting outfits together. What part of you do you really appreciate about yourself? What part of you do you want to accentuate or flatter? Then build a look around that! Maybe you love the way you look in a dress! Awesome! Add a new belt, experiment with accessorizing a few different ways to give it a different vibe, try on different shoes with it, and see what you come up with! I know there is a way to wear things in your closet you just have NOT thought of yet!
Adding the accessory of the pendant necklace also adds the V shape to elongate the look and breaks up a lot of blank space. It’s a complimentary color, the metal and stone is neutral but adds texture and detail to the knit top. The gold bangles are a simple and easy add to my wrist, and of course, my Apple watch is always on too. (PS, I went on Amazon and bought a metal bracelet band for like $16….INSTANT update to the watch for very small investment, just the way I like it!)
Happy Outfit Making friends!
