Let’s face it, we all have something beige in our wardrobe! But it doesn’t always strike us as the color to highlight; but here’s where the Spring Summer 2019 trends work to our advantage.
THE WIDE RANGE OF BEIGE
I was reading the March issue of British Vogue, and I was impressed to see an article on how beige and all it’s glorious tones, from sand to dark camel, are actually a welcome spring color. Not just an accent color. So, while you could go monochrome with it, you can also layer it with similar colors, yet different textures to create your own personal spin on the style.
Here’s what British Vogue had to say:
WHAT’S IN YOUR CLOSET
Immediately after reading this I thought, hey….I might be able to create this look with what I’ve got! And sure enough…here’s what I came up with! I may talk alot about not worrying as much about trends, and focus more on finding your style. What I will say, is I OFTEN find inspiration by reading ABOUT the trends, and then piecing together my unique version of it. When you have a classic wardrobe that is full of pieces you love, it’s always interesting what you can come up with!
WHAT’S OLD IS NEW AGAIN
I took an old linen blazer from H&M, (that I bought specifically for this previous article) from a few years ago, and the loose Top Shop tank underneath was from at least 5 years ago). I’ve never paired these two together; but after reading how layering beige is working this season, I ran with it.
Not to mention, I had just bought this super cute faux snake skin cross body bag (for the equivalent of $35 USD) that ALSOOOOO, comes with a strap to make it a belt bag! Turns out, I now own one of those darn things, and didn’t even know I was buying it! SO, just for the heck of it, I might style and outfit with it. Just to see what we all think!
BOTTOM LINE IS VERSATILITY AND A WARDROBE THAT WORKS
When you get yourself clothes that you love, where the color is right, the fit flatters, and they aren’t super trendy or highly patterned or printed, your “cost per wear” goes wwwaayyyy down. Especially when you wear them over not just multiple seasons; but multiple years. So saving you money is great; but it’s also saving you TIME. When you know how something looks on you, it’s WAAYYY easier to create a look and have it feel right, the first time you put it on.
Now get in your closet and see if YOU can create a fun new look with what you’ve got!
