Oh the Sparkly Dresses!!! Holidays, and holiday parties mean sequins, which means we sparkle with every move! Some sparkly dresses can be over the top, some can be just accented with it; but either way, tis the season!
Sparkly Dress from the Archives
If I’m being honest, this dress is not new. True story, I went online about 4 years ago, needed a fancy outfit for the Stella & Dot conference I was going to in Orlando, and surfed Amazon a week before leaving. I’m not usually that disorganized when it comes to fashion; but I did have pretty little ones and was trying to plan their days while I would be gone. All my Mom friends can attest, when we leave, the only way we will fully enjoy ourselves, is making sure all the I’s are dotted and T’s are crossed, am I right?!
To my great surprise, this dress arrived as a fully sequined cocktail dress. I thought it was just a metallic fabric!! My bucket list for the closet was to put a sparkly dress in it, that wasn’t a bridesmaid dress; but could never pull the trigger. This piece came in under $100 so I was sold. Even more so when I had it in my hands!
The design / pattern of the sequins is swirly and not uniform, which gives it alot of interest. This sparkly dress actually has matte sequins mixed with shiny ones, so it’s not too much for the eyes. There will still be all kinds of light reflecting off of it walking through the cocktail party; but understated. Just the way I like it.
Since I can’t link this exact one, here’s a few I found that caught my eye:
Sparkly Dresses Can Be More Than Just Sparkly
Can we just talk for a second about the back of this dress!! I’m bringing Sexy Back! (you KNOW I’m a huge JT fan…I pretty much had to do that)
I absolutely love that the front looks very conservative, and add that to the fact that it is not at all tight, and the extra fabric on the arms makes it even flowy. But there is definately a party in the back, and THAT, my friends, is the unexpected, very appropriate, yet sexy factor for this dress.
I goes without saying; but just in case I have to…no bra allowed with a cutout like this. Grab yourself some petals or strapless bras for some support if that makes you more comfortable; but having that back feature interrupted by bra straps would take away from the tone of the gown. How much you wanna bet your hubby will love it too? Get it girl…
Do You Add More Sparkle to a Sparkly Dress?
Accessorizing this look felt pretty easy for me. This sparkly dress speaks volumes for itself, so I went with my delicate gold and diamond necklaces laying gently on the collar, brushed gold dangly chandalier earrings, and a simple hammered brushed gold bangle with embedded stones for a little sparkle. Keeping this look monochrome was definately what I was going for. You might like to add a larger cuff or bigger earrings. That’s the beauty of your personal style. You can be inspired by the things I put out; but tweak it to be all you. You’ll walk around feeling confident and beautiful…..I promise!
A Sparkly Dress That Is Comfortable and Stylish…WINNER
When you go out to those holiday, or any time of year parties, don’t you want to feel like you can stand, sit, dance, bend down (hopefully not fall down…) and all the moving around without worrying about your outfit? I found, as I got older, I had less patience for a form fitting dress that always had to be adjusted. As a result, I can walk around the party doing a whole lot of this…
I had the best time at this photo session with my good friend and super talented photographer Brooke Holmes of @bmariephoto. I say this every time but time spent with her is NEVER wasted and she just gets me. And she is willing to try anything to get a fun shot. We even found this INCREDIBLY GORGEOUS champagne colored wall to take a photo by! I mean…..I sure as heck don’t blend in right? The colors and textures speak for themselves. (I know this doesn’t really have anything to do with this post; but it’s such a pretty pic! I had to include it)
Wear Your Sparkly Dresses to The Westin The Woodlands
Friends, this venue is out of this world gorgeous. (check them out @thewestinthewoodlands on Instagram). They are so classy, upscale and decadent in their decor, you will never be overdressed here. We loved shooting five whole looks here and I couldn’t have picked a better place to showcase all of the outfits I wore if I tried. Where else can you go from Spanx Faux Leather Leggings and an Oversized sweater, to a Designer Fall Sweater Dress, and a few other great looks, to this Sparkly Dress!! Check out this amazing shot that Brooke got….I felt like I needed to be holding a glass of champagne to do it justice, except it was about 10am at the time!
I hope you have some really fun holiday parties planned, even if you have to plan them yourself, at your house…doesn’t mean you can’t get dressed up for it!!
