Summer style….in the intense heat of Houston, it can be TRICKY! I’m SO SO excited to share with y’all that Method39 is collaborating with my fabulous friend, Annette Ultis, owner of Branch Boutique right here in Houston. This blog and her boutique are teaming up to bring you a collection of looks that I am personally picking, as MY favorites, to share with you! This summer, you can shop with confidence, still shop online but go local, and see multiple ways to wear each summer style!

WHERE DID YOU GET THAT KIMONO?!

KIMONO SUMMER STYLE

Here’s how Method39 would style this kimono! Of course, my go to Rag & Bone distressed denim, a simple white ribbed tank from Old Navy and my classic nude heeled sandals by Vince. This neutral leather and suede cross body is the perfect tone plus adds a little luxe and texture because of the quality fabrics.

One side note, this tank is really unforgiving in the fit, and frankly a little thin. It’s from Old Navy and was less than $10, and while it IS meant to be a snugger fit because it’s for a “first layer”, I would also like this kimono paired with one that is a little looser. I mean, I’m 42. Tight isn’t really my thing anymore.

More style advice? Wear a nude bra with a white top, like I am here. White on white just creates a very clear line as to where your bra begins and ends, and it’s not very discreet, (ESPECIALLY with a thin fabric to begin with, you know?). You want people to appreciate your WHOLE LOOK, not be distracted by one part of it.

KIMONO ACCESSORIZED

You can’t go wrong with a mixed metal pendant necklace to elongate the look, and a mix of fun bracelets finish it off. You  can elevate a causal look with higher end pieces to give a really polished finish. Even if you are just headed for patio margaritas on Friday with friends.

KIMONO STYLED OTHER WAYS

Other ways to wear it? White tank + white jeans with gladiator sandals, ripped denim shorts and a leather slide (like a Tory Burch type) and even throw in a cute summer fedora for a casual patio or beach evening. This Kimono might also be just enough to keep the chill off in the grocery stores or movie theater; but won’t be too hot to wear to the many outdoor festivals / activities there are to take in. The material will keep the UV rays off of you; but also breathes easy.

THE OTHER KIMONO DEETS

Fits true to size, this is a small. Very lightweight so perfect for layering in this Houston heat. Very sheer so make sure your tank underneath still covers any bra straps to maintain modesty. #stayclassy

Love it because it is flowy and has great movement while walking around. The color blocking gives it interest, and comes in other color ways! I don’t own any teal, so this was a nice way to incorporate it into my wardrobe. Maybe you are looking to expand the colors in your closet but aren’t sure how? Give this a try! Fabric is prone to wrinkling so dressing this down accommodates that easily!

KIMONO OUTTAKES

PS. And just to give you all a good giggle….my son was blowing off the back patio, where we had to do these pics because the torrential rain from the afternoon ruined our other location plans. He figured I needed a little wind affect for the photos. I say we nailed it don’t you? #teamwork
