So this is how my summer is going…..FAST; but sort of feeling long already. I’m not complaining…I do actually have immense gratitude for the opportunity that I have to stay home with my kids for these months, otherwise my word for summer would be EXPENSIVE! Bless all the mama’s out there who work and have to arrange childcare, camps, sleepovers at relatives, or anything and everything in between so they can keep working to pay the bills.
But I won’t lie, it’s the third week now and I’m going to need a minute. The first week was pool parties here, birthday parties there, random playdates and a few disagreements between my kids. But at the end of the day they were tuckered out and had fun. The second week consisted of VBS for my son, and my daughter being TOTALLY bummed she couldn’t go.
Then last weekend my boy turned 11. We won’t dwell on THAT too much; but needless to say, we were hosting the party here and that meant ALOT of planning, shopping, decorating, baking, creating games and just the whole 9 yards of hosting a child’s birthday party, that rolled into a bbq for the evening. OH! Don’t forget we had Father’s Day yesterday too! It was all totally amazing and completely loved and appreciated by all, so absolutely worth every moment.
So today, I warned them all. You need to find things to do, not sit in front of a screen all day, work together and respect that I’ve got to have some uninterrupted time. I NEED to get some work done! I love working! This blog has made me so happy and when I can’t be consistent at it, it’s all I think about. SO….here’s to that and this super cute outfit today. (Which I’m still wearing and plan to wear out to celebrate a girlfriends birthday tonight)
Where did I need to go? The bank and the grocery store. BUT, there is no reason I can’t dress up this plain white T and look good doing it. Truly, this out fit is as effortless as putting on this same t-shirt and a pair of shorts (workout or otherwise). The waistband on this skirt is even ELASTIC!!! Holy smokes, pure comfort and joy. The pattern is pretty, yet not “in your face” and can be paired with a number of different colors. In fact, I also paired it with a navy T..I’ll show that later. And great news friends! This skirt is on SALE!!! 25% off…yay! Shop for it RIGHT HERE!
My accessories were not as easy to choose! This outfit will work with so many different options, here’s what I had to choose from this morning.  This statement piece just seemed to be more summery, on trend with the cobalt and tassels, and really tie into the blue on the skirt nicely. The turquoise option would have also been really pretty with this. Then there is always this long gold fringe-y pendant that is an easy go to piece anytime, or just a couple of simple delicate engraved pieces. This friends, is why I love accessories just so darn much. Your outfit is a blank slate, and your style comes out in the way you finish it off. I mean, check out that arm party! The navy bracelet is actually a 4 in 1 look, and reminds me of the embroidery friendship bracelets we used to make for each other back when I was a kid….so very cute and nostalgic all at the same time! Check it out for yourself HERE!
But back to this skirt that is on sale……
One of my favorite things about the clothing I end up choosing is the interesting details some pieces have and this skirt doesn’t disappoint. It’s not just got the pattern going for it; but the cut as well. It’s got the look of a tiered skirt and, as per the last few dresses, I’ve loved, it’s slightly longer in the back, so it flows really pretty when you walk. And in all honestly, I just really love the length. So appropriate for a day look, date night, lunch with the girls, or heading to church. The colors will translate nicely into Fall; but I can make it very summery with casual tops AND this gorgeous raffia TOTE.
These nude cage booties show up alot; but I’m telling you….I’m so glad I snagged them at Payless Shoe Source….so far they are incredibly comfortable to wear all day or just for the evening, go with anything and everything, and the heel isn’t too tall; but gives my legs a little definition when I wear them. SCORE.
OH, and as promised, here’s how this skirt looks paired with the Navy T-shirt mentioned in BEST T-SHIRT AWARD post from a little while ago!
Here’s to you and your summer days. May they be a little dressed up all along the way!
