A new year, new ideas, new you? Or maybe you are the same you, with the same goals, and just need a little nudge to finally make it happen? If I’m honest with you, I’m in the second category. Ted Talks can be a great source of motivation, or just give you the mental clarity you are looking for on anything from eating well, to starting a business, to making what you THINK, your reality.
Ted Talks I’ve Listened To
I’m not going to take full credit for this list…I’m often motivated by the people I follow. That’s the point, right? To help your ship steer in the right direction, based on the people you surround yourself with. Whether they are actual people you spend time with, or those you connect with in the virtual world!
The List
If you’ve got time to kill, many of these talks are under 20 minutes! Maybe while you are waiting in car rider line to pick up your kids, or on a coffee break and can stick your earbuds in like I’m doing at the coffee shop while Devon is with friends. Maybe you like to start your day with motivation, or end it, consider clicking these links to listen to what these pro’s have to say! I know I enjoyed them.
I am super inpsired by Jacey Duprie. She has one of my favorite ever blogs called Damsel in Dior (click to head over there and check her out, you might find you love her too!) She suggested these first few and, while I’ve ALWAYS been a fan of Brene Brown, Jacey introduced me to Graham Hill, so I just had to share there talks.
Brene Brown discusses the power of vulnerability – your perception is SO important!https://www.ted.com/talks/brene_brown_on_vulnerability?language=en
Graham Hill talks about living with a little less to give us more freedom, not just financially! https://www.ted.com/talks/graham_hill_less_stuff_more_happiness?language=en
Lena Kay gives a pretty powerful argument for using positive thinking to transform our lives. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L51h8BBu7b8
And I was made to really think about things differently when I listened to Scott Geller talk about the Psychology of Self Motivation. Something I seem to lack. I can make all the plans in the world. I LOVE to strategize and brainstorm; but execution seems to be a real struggle for me. I like how he broke it down, maybe you will too! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7sxpKhIbr0E
Just Ted Talk’s?
If you know me, you might know I love Stacey London. I fan girl over her since the BEGINNING of What Not To Wear. Here’s a couple of different talks she’s done on Personal Style and Style Confidence.
This talk is from 2014, and I will admit, I don’t agree with gum. A lady, for me, uses mints because there’s nothing worse than someone chomping on gum as you are trying to talk; but she’s the master so there’s still very relevant info here. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TQpfjbi6crE
And if you have just under an hour to kill, there’s this one! So many people I talk to feel like style just shouldn’t matter. You are a good person, treat others well, serve your family, friends & community, why should it matter what you are wearing of all things. I’m willing to bet you will realize you can relate to her much more than you think. After listening to her I love her even more! My favorite line is “style and self esteem are INNATELY connected” It’s why I wanted to create Method39! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TQpfjbi6crE
Finding Your Style Isn’t Just Fashion
While you are finding your way to tackle a brand new year, my hope for Method39, and my content, is to help you look at yourself differently. Because when you can suddenly feel like you LOOK great, you will THINK you look great, and when you think better, you ARE better. Style, YOUR style, can help you find the courage to be your best self, and I’m here to help you find it!
Happy listening and here’s to 2019 for all of us!!
