What’s old is new again! That may be an old saying; but it absolutely fits into today’s message, and I’m not talking about trends coming back around. Everyday I preach about this, right?! Time to take a few minutes to throw open your closet doors, step in, and see it all with fresh eyes. Here’s how:
DON’T TAKE YOUR CLOTHES SO LITERAL
How many times have you purchased something, and only paired it with the same piece. Like, this top only goes with this skirt. Maybe that’s the piece you bought it to compliment, or you just feel like that’s what goes together best? Girl, like I always say, everything you own should be able to be paired with at LEAST three other items in your wardrobe so you can always make what’s old, new again.
Wear a dress like a sweater:
Or a dress like a skirt:
TAKE 15 MINUTES TO PULL PIECES TOGETHER
I often find myself standing at my open closet, just looking at my clothes. Sometimes we forget what we actually have, because we always wear the same 20%. Sometimes we have gems shoved away or in the back of the closet because they fell off the hanger and we didn’t even know. Lay a couple of totally original looks out on your bed, and see what you think! Now add some accessories. Don’t forget shoes. Be willing to get creative and think completely outside the box! Pair dressy and casual like you’ve never done before.

NOW GET DRESSED
Yep, you KNEW I was going to say that! You can’t really know if a new look is going to work til you put it on your body, so girl, let’s go. Since you are at home, go put on your nude / skin tone bra. Either the regular style or strapless, so that straps aren’t distracting you from the over all look, and nude / skin tone is the best color to wear under all garments for the highest level of discreetness (hmmm, is that a word?). Put on the outfit, check it out in a full length mirror, walk around, sit down, stand up, pick something up off the floor. MOVE AROUND in it like you potentially would if you wore it out of the house. This will help you decide if you like the style, comfort and modesty.
MAKE A LIST
Take a pic and send to a friend if you need a second opinion. Try tucking the shirt a few different ways. What about rolling the cuff or adding a belt. What’s missing to pull a couple of these new looks together? This is how you get started on an INTENTIONAL shopping list, so you can use your time and money wisely.
WHAT’S OLD IS NEW AGAIN
And there you have it. Even if you get ONE new look, out of the items that have been hanging in your closet this whole time, that is PROGRESS! You CAN take the items you’ve been holding onto for a while, and make them work in new ways, paired unexpectedly, and add detail with accessories and finishing touches. Your Method to Style can start to evolve WITH WHAT YOU HAVE, so take action, get in that closet and be creative!
